I like a lot of horror movies, but I've always been a way bigger fan of the Friday the 13th films than any other slasher franchise.
The campy writing and acting amuse me, I love the kills, and...
boobs.
I mean, come on.
The formula is pretty simple: observe campers getting stoned and having sex for a minute, then watch in amusement as a masked cock block shows up to kill everyone in increasingly creative and brutal ways.
It would be tough for me to pick a favorite, but I love Jason's zombie-like appearance in Parts VII and IX. (7 and 9)
One of my favorite kills...Melissa was a bitch the whole movie, and this just felt like karma.
I have to say, it will always piss me off that Jason's not really in Part IX much- it's usually a possessed target doing the killing, which takes away the fun for me.
Gotta love how the mask is part of his face though.
Freddy Vs. Jason is actually a great fucking movie, if you ignore the stupid 'fear of water' element that they introduced. The kills and fights were great.
Asshole sandwich, anyone?
The 2009 reboot was okay, but I didn't like how they tried to evolve the character by expanding his backstory.
The cinematography and acting were on par with the rest of the series however, and it felt like a legit Friday film for the most part.
Ridiculous, but entertaining.
Jason somehow survived being drowned and years later, returned to the site of his mother's murder to finish her work.
Cut it out guys, haven't you heard the stories?
Guess not.
The Friday the 13th films are fun-they never aspired to be more than b grade horror, and if recreated in that same vein of thought, a series reboot would be awesome.
Both Crispin Glover...
...and Kevin Bacon got their start with the Friday movies.
Unfortunately due to an ongoing legal battle, we'll be lucky to see another Friday movie at all.
Ahem.
The creators are battling it out for the rights, and if not resolved, Friday the 13th may never return as we knew it.
In all likelihood, Jason's name would be changed, and we'd no longer have a Camp Crystal Lake or Pamela Voorhees.
Fuck that shit.
If that happens I'll just stick to the originals, thanks.
I like all of the movies, really.
They all have that summer camp 80's vibe, with the exception of Jason X and Jason Goes To Hell.
One of the coolest horror kills ever.
I call this move the exorcist...
TL;DR
An enjoyable series that's still entertaining today, and one I hope comes back soon.
