I've always been a sucker for a good point-and-click title. There's something satisfying about playing around in a well-crafted 2-D world and discovering what works and how.
FreeWebArcade is a great resource for free-to-play games, and some of these titles are surprisingly well made. (These are Flash-based games)
Let's begin.
-A Small Favor-

The art style is pleasant to look at, especially if you dig the whole dystopian vibe like I do.

There's dark humor sprinkled throughout, and the puzzles are actually enjoyable to solve.

You begin with a contract and pick up various other tasks along the way, ranging from assassination to constructing a doll for an upset child.

I snickered a few times at the dialogue and situations in this one.

You'll puzzle and kill your way to the top, where you'll finally eliminate the corrupt senator.

Once you finish the Senator, you will receive a rating based on your performance.

Overall score: 8/10
Now, on to the sequel.
-Another Small Favor-
This title is very similar to the original. There are some small changes, ie. your character can run now when the direction prompt is double-clicked. You will also need to cash in those favors, unlike the first title.
Another Small Favor picks up immediately after the ending of the first game.

Your assassin is on the run, needing to change his identity and disappear.

The entirety of the map is accessible from the outset, and you can even access the original game from this menu. (See above screencap)
You'll start in the town, where you need to scan the crowd for the flesh-burrowing gnat you were sent to speak with.

There are a few more puzzles this time around, but the game is virtually the same length.
I really enjoyed the section where your character goes after an infamous mercenary called the Pig Hunter.

You have to use a shield system to subvert the attacker, and there is a similar instance toward the end of the game that was also pretty cool.

Once you have completed a task for a stranger, you can call in a favor from them via the menu. (This is necessary to complete the game)

There are lots of characters to meet and interact with, and each has a role to play in helping you complete the game.

Despite the bigger and lighter approach, I enjoyed the aesthetic and overall tone of the first game better. Still, Another Small Favor is a fun experience and I am looking forward to the next one.
Overall score: 5/10
